Grays and Torreys from Bakersville

Grays and Torreys from Bakersville

Wondering what the FKT for Grays and Torreys from Bakersville (the old burnt chimney) via the standard route is? Stats are: 14.5 miles, 5,300' of gain.

I know Tony has done it in 3:09, but I don't know where he started and whether he stayed on the trail or took advantage of the snow to make some short cuts. Travis Macy did it earlier this year in 3:17 car to car from Bakersville. Anyone have any other fast times on this? I ran it from the old chimney the other day in 3:21:32 car to car, which is total time (I don't understand the "moving" time versus total time, at least in terms of FKTs). I know I can bring this down a fair bit, as I'm still acclimating some and wiring the route, but I'm sure others have done it faster. Under three hours?

  2. My time was 2:52 last month, on a not so great ascent of Grays, an OK traverse to Torreys and a pretty solid descent. I am sure Tony has done it faster than that and probably a few others have as well.
